No one has ever claimed that running a fashion label and designing collections is easy. It's tough, really tough.

But there was one day in the season I absolutely loved and that was the shoot. It's the culmination of all your hard work and a day when I could finally sit back and watch other creatives bring the collection to life. I have worked with some lovely people over the years especially my partner Andreas Bleckmann who did all the photography for the brand. He brought a consistency to the shoot and created a fun relaxing atmosphere. These are a few of my favourite images.

La Petite S***** Celebrates More Than 10 Years in Business

 Having navigated our way through a decade of eyebrow raising trends, bewildering financial roller coasters and a climate that leaves us perplexed, La Petite S has established its self as a rock of consistency in a world that leaves us in a spin.

AW/12 collection is no exception and all devotees of the brand can heave a sigh of relief that once again designer Nicola Helgesen has delivered a collection of timeless style.

 Now we are feeling cosy, wrapped in our duvet of love we are inexplicably jolted out of our comfort zone by a colour pallet laced with beams of vivid lime and splashes of vibrant fuchsia that jettison us into a colour block stratosphere; but wait…. classic tones of oatmeal, charcoal and black guide us gently back down to earth.

Having found serenity in our favourite brand we still have to cope with ever increasing demands on our time and a day to evening schedule that requires an effortlessly sophisticated wardrobe. This season’s Italian stretch wool definitely ticks that box.

From the sleek little black dress to our perennial favourite the skinny skirt every pleat and dart is uniquely considered to compliment real women.

True to the brands signature style lightweight crepe satin melts to the body with a strong focus on minimal construction, maximum fluidity.

In a perfect marriage of freedom and structure, organic drapery compliments and defines the technical precision of the tailored wool.

The coat of the season is cosy and luxurious with more than a hint of 60’s Avedon glamour, teamed with the mini tassel shift dress you may be rendered incapable of standing still as the urge to twist takes a hold of your senses.

 For SS12 La Petite S***** presents a dynamic collection of twisted, draped and looped garments combining a colour palette of vibrant brights such as coral, brick and tomato with neutral/warm tones of clay mud and black chocolate.

Breaking away from tradition, designer Nicola Helgesen has created a unique collection focusing on fabric manipulation to sculpt the female form. Using the finest selection of Italian fabrics ensures the collection defines luxury.

We welcome the super stretch range of innovative transitional pieces created from a unique Italian linen designed with precise pleats and enveloping folds to create tailored body con dresses and separates.

Teamed with our range of crepe de chine silk separates and dresses in contrasting tones we are confident this combination will satisfy all summer wardrobe needs.

Ramp up the silhouette with our monochrome animal print using traditional discharge print techniques produced by the finest of Italian mills.

For AW11 La Petite S***** brings a rich collection combining twisted, looped up garments with sharply pleated tailoring and sensual drape. The full-bodied colour palette incorporates burnt umber, tobacco, putty, bitter chocolate and aubergine, giving dramatic intensity to this seasons new shapes.

Designer, Nicola Helgesen has manifested a sophisticated yet edgy collection which pushes separates and versatile investment pieces in addition to the signature cocktail dresses La Petite S***** is celebrated for. A minimal yet feminine aesthetic has produced pieces which smoothly bridge the gap from day to evening wear.

A truly unique fabric, this season’s Italian stretch wool is lightweight yet moulds and sculpts the body in tailored body con dresses and separates. The sharpness of the tailoring translates into cubist sleeves and signature pleats which have each been individually considered to flatter and fashion the female form.

Inspired by 70’s glamour, the glossy fluid jersey in camel, chocolate, aubergine and burnt umber is sensuously draped and twisted.  A series of minimalist dresses with gathered waists, plunging cowl necklines and draped sleeves form the core of this effortlessly seductive group. Sweeping hemlines and skinny neck ties elongate the silhouette and continue the theme through into the crushed satin group.

The hammered mohair and crushed satin offer the deconstructed counterpart to the tailoring. These luxurious fabrics with a textured finish, drape and twist into easy to wear looped up styles, cinched in at the waist with skinny leather belts in glossy bitter chocolate.

Antique stretch lace in mercury and bronze brings a youthful, accessible gloss in the form of pleated cocktail dresses and separates. Stretchy Italian silk woven with metal is cut into super skinny skirts and dresses which ripple over the body.

The AW11 collection offers something for every modern woman from directional lightweight tailoring to playful twisted drape in an intense colour palette which is quintessential La Petite S*****

SPRING SUMMER 2011 COLLECTION PART TWO

The fluid jersey and mottled silks are twisted, looped and tied into relaxed, sensual shapes which softly cocoon the body. The group is punctuated with chunky twisted neck pieces and solid gun metal fastenings. Soft tones of mushroom and aubergine are off set against the gentle duck egg of the power stretch linen which brings with it the structure and modernity of cubist sleeves, asymmetric jackets and body conscious pencil skirts.

Vivid hot red cotton voile in diaphanous enveloping styles retains a lightness and effortlessness, reinforced by the deceptively simple construction. The double layered effect of the sheer cotton shades to emphasise the bias twisted cut.

The collection pushes a deconstructed ethos backed up by exceptionally luxurious unique fabrics. Playing with twisting techniques have formed the core of the collection which is fresh and sophisticated, remaining true to the La Petite S***** signature.

SPRING SUMMER 2011 COLLECTION PART ONE

Astonishingly simple shapes have emerged from a combination of bewilderingly elegant cutting and truly sensational cloth. Absolutely determined to apply a lightness of touch to construction, designer Nicola Helgesen has utilized natural materials engineered into modern deconstructed fabrics, the uniqueness of which encourages a stripped down approach to design.

This quintessential La Petite S***** collection is divided into 2 parts, both have benefited from a subtle tonal colour palette of duck egg, black chocolate, dappled coal, chalk white and mushroom punctuated with a shot of vivid red.

‘Part one’

Deceptively stretchy Italian silks, scrunch and ripple with woven metal in abstract reptilian print and a mix and match pallet of plains. It is the basis for a range of low maintenance, light summer separates appealing to the modern woman. Accessible pull on dresses, drawstring skirts and soft tailoring combine to create a standalone capsule collection.
